sports dictionary Football - SIDE JUDGES FLAG
Football SIDE JUDGES FLAG a tool that helps the assistant referee signal rule violations, substitutions, and other events. This item is a device for visual switching between judges. The flag is raised - the main signal of the side referee, which tells the main referee to stop the game. After the main referee blows his whistle, the assistant referee reports a violation of the rules. Flag raised at 45 degrees along the sideline indicates that the ball has crossed the sideline. The ball must be entered into play by the team with the flag pointing in the direction of attack. The flag is aimed at the goal (the referee is located near the front line) - a signal indicating a goal kick. If the side referee holds the flag at arms length, it signals "out of play". The position of the hand indicates in which part of the field the offside was recorded: hand up 45 degrees far side of the field from the referee; hand strictly horizontal middle of the field; hand down 45 degrees near part of the field. The flag above the head indicates that a replacement is being performed. If the side referee registers a goal, he lowers the flag and goes to the center line.
