sports dictionary Baseball - FISHING
Baseball FISHING a ball safely caught by a defender. There are several caveats to this term. A catch is only considered a ball that has been caught with the right hand or trap. Other items of equipment must not be used. Also, if a player makes contact with another baseball player after catching the ball or falls while dropping the ball, this is also not considered catching. The owner of the ball must catch it according to all the rules. If he passes it to another fielder, he must clearly show that he is in control of the ball. This is monitored by the judge.
