sports dictionary Basketball - OUT
Basketball OUT the ball goes out of the playing area. It should be noted that basketball has its own rules for the interpretation of outs. For example, it is fixed if the ball hits a player who is out. Touching the floor behind the playing area is also an out, as is touching any object outside the field. Possession of the ball after an out is awarded to the team whose players were not the last to touch the ball before it was released. As can be seen from these rules, if the ball has gone out of the playing area, but has not yet touched the floor, it is not technically out.
