sports dictionary Basketball - POINT GUARD
Basketball POINT GUARD the first number or point guard of your team. The team manager, its playmaker and the main passer on the field are all point guards. The basketball player who sees the situation on the field better than anyone else knows the strengths and weaknesses of both his own team and someone elses. He has to analyze the game more than anyone else and actually build it himself. The point guard is usually the lowest ranked player on the team. This allows him to be extremely agile and fast in handling the ball. Point guards are able to break through to the ring incredibly quickly, developing great speed. They rarely complete attacks themselves, but if their height allows, they can also make dunks or throws from a distance. The main game technique of such a player is an assist.
