sports dictionary Chess - tournament
Chess tournament a type of chess competition (along with a match) in which a number of participants play against each other. A typical example is a round-robin tournament in which each participant plays against everyone else. A Swiss system tournament allows you to hold a competition with many dozens (or even hundreds) of participants through a draw held after each round (in each new round, participants with approximately the same number of points play among themselves). A tournament based on the Scheveningen system involves a competition of teams, where in the end each participant of one team plays a game with each participant of the other team.
